Chen is a singer-songwriter, music producer, and sound artist with a diverse background in music performing and composing.
Chen's research center around a creative compositional method at the intersection of live performance, singing voice, electronic music, and emerging music technologies. Her work explores the potential composing method of open work and open sound control in technologically mediated music, both in composition and performance. Her research also delves into how computer-based technologies can enhance extended compositional method techniques and forms associated with live performance, interactions, and participation as well as the singing voice, particularly in real-time control and manipulation.
Aside from her pursuits as a researcher, Chen also works as an independent artist, keep creating pop music under the artist's name of Noisy Chen, actively contributing to the realms of the popular music industry.
