UAL DESIS Lab is one of the founding members of the international DESIS (Design for Social Innovation and Sustainability) Network. It was established in 2012 by Professor Adam Thorpe and Professor Ezio Manzini (UAL Chair of Design for Social Innovation, 2015-2018).

The Lab brings together academics, researchers and postgraduate students from across the university whose design and research activities are directed towards social innovation and sustainability. Through the DESIS network they are connected with likeminded colleagues at 68 other labs in design schools and design-focused universities in 32 countries across the globe.
